Grizzlies rule Ja Morant’s season over due to left elbow injury

Morant, a two-time NBA All-Star, played only 20 games in this campaign. The Grizzlies explored the trade market for him before the February deadline, but received little interest from other teams.

Morant suffered an elbow sprain on January 21 in his second game after returning from a two-week absence due to calf strain.

According to the team, Morant recently sought counseling to address his long-standing elbow issue. He was recommended to receive platelet-rich plasma injections to optimize ligament healing. He is expected to be ready for the start of the 2026–27 season.

Morant has only played a total of 79 games over the past three campaigns due to multiple suspensions and various injuries. He has two seasons and $87 million remaining on his contract.
