Google lost its appeal to a judge’s court order, in which the Tech veteran needed his app store to revive his app store in an antitrust case filed by Fortnite Maker Epious Games, Roots Informed on Thursday.
The 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals dismissed Google’s argument that the trial judge made legal errors in the antitrust case that was incorrectly in favor of epic sports.
Epic Games had earlier filed a suit in 2020 and was able to convince a jury in 2023 that Google illegally strengthened competition. Trial judge ordered Google last October To open your app store to rivals and give more options to Android users when it comes to downloading the app. This order was pending on the result of Google’s appeal.
Google argued in the appeal court that his Play Store competes with Apple’s app store, and claimed that the trial judge incorrectly stopped it from presenting that argument in defense against the antitrust claims of the epic.
