Giants TE Johnson (illness) attends Knicks game but out for finale

New York Giants starting tight end Theo Johnsonwho participated nix Will miss Friday night’s game at Madison Square Garden, Sunday’s season finale despite not practicing all week due to a non-infectious illness dallas cowboys,

The second-year tight end was shown sitting courtside at the scoreboard during the game, smiling and waving at the camera. He later reposted the photo, taken by a New York Post reporter and posted on social media, and replied, “I’m not sick.”

The Giants (3-13) said Johnson is dealing with a non-contagious infection, not the flu or COVID-19, where being around other people wouldn’t be a risk. That’s why infection is a disease and why he was kept out of Sunday’s game.

“So he still has a little bit of an illness and this infection that we’re working through,” interim coach Mike Kafka said Thursday. “So he’s just trying to clean it up. See where it goes.”

Johnson returned to the Giants facility this week after missing last week’s win las vegas raidersHe is one of several players and coaches who have battled the illness this week,

outside linebacker abdul carterdefensive lineman dexter lawrence ii and wide receiver Jalin Hayat Practice was also missed due to illness. Hiatt is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Cowboys. Carter and Lawrence were not given injury designations. Johnson was the only one to be excluded.

Johnson is second on the team with 45 catches for 528 receiving yards this season. He leads the Giants with five receiving touchdowns.
