French authorities have arrested a Russian professional basketball player, who is accused of being a member of the Rainswire Egans France-Press, as a member of the Ranmware Gang.
Daniel Kasaktin MBA plays for Moscow, a team that is part of the VTB United League, which includes most Russian clubs as well as a team from Belarus and Kazakhstan. Kaskatin played briefly Pen state During the 2018-2019 season.
The AFP reported that US officials believe that Kaskakin Moonlight is a ransomware hacker. Kaskatin was arrested on June 21 at Charles de Gaul Airport in Paris.
Qakkatin’s lawyer Frederick Belot told AFP that his customer was innocent.
Belot told AFP, “He bought a used computer. He did nothing wrong. He is surprised.”
“He is useless with a computer. He cannot even install an app. He did not touch anything on this computer. It was either hacked, or sold by a hacker who wanted to pass himself as someone else.”
