A fire was reported on the banks of Okinawa on Wednesday at the AMFIBIS USS New Orleans (LPD -18).
“The crew is responding to the fire in the USS new Orleans This afternoon, August 20, which is in the area around Okinawa, Japan, ”a naval statement USNI Reading.
“We will provide more details with being available.”
No preliminary reports of crew injuries were filed, and while the fire has been incorporated, it is not extinguished, according to the outlet.
A video showing two water cannons while drowning the attack was seen in the footage from the Japanese Broadcaster NHK,
“The crew is currently engaged in fire efforts, but we have requested the Japan Coast Guard to provide firefighting assistance,” an official of the Coast Guard told The Foreign Outlet.
Officials did not immediately respond to the hill request for comment.
The USS New Orleans is a transport dock that has the ability to reel in the assets of CH -46C night helicopters, MV -22 OSPRE and Marine Corps.
