Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warns consumers to eat, sell or serve frozen shrimp sold in Walmart due to potential radioactive contamination.
The FDA was alerted by the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to detect Cesium -137, a radioactive isotope, which in shipping containers at four American ports: Los Angeles, Houston, Sawana, Ga., And Miami.
The FDA collected several samples for analysis and the results confirmed the presence of CS -137 in a sample of BMS Foods, the BMS Foods of Indonesia, the agency. Said In a news release on Tuesday.
The FDA said in the update, “Containers and product tests for CS -137 have been deprived of positive or vigilance from entering the country.” “The agency continues to coordinate with CBP to prevent any contaminated products from reaching consumers and is working with Indonesian seafood regulatory officials to investigate the root cause of contamination.”
The FDA said that no shrimp entering the US food supply has not conducted a positive test for CS -137.
The FDA suggested that all products of BMS foods sent after the containers of the firm to be positively tested for CS -137 should be called back, despite the products that products are not conducting positive tests for radioactive isotopes.

“FDA has not detected CS -137 in any product above the current derivative intervention level for CS -137 (1200 BQ/kg); however, the FDA concluded that the braided shynga samples have revealed that CS -137 may have revealed a possible health concern for this level of CS -137.
