Fat tissue around the heart may contribute to greater heart injury after a heart attack

Increased amount of epicardial adipose tissue, detected by cardiovascular imaging, was found to be associated with greater myocardial injury after myocardial infarction. These findings were presented at EACVI 2025, the conference of the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI).
