Pierce was arrested in Miami-Dade County on two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated stalking. He was also charged with fleeing and eluding police officers, battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting an officer without violence.
Pierce was booked into Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center at 6:58 p.m. Saturday, according to online records.
Doral Police Chief Edwin Lopez told WPLG-TV The alleged dispute was between Pierce and Jackson. Lopez told the outlet that Pearce was arrested after fleeing an alleged altercation and crashing his vehicle during a police pursuit.
“We are aware of an incident involving James Pierce Jr. in Miami,” the Falcons said in a prepared statement. “We are in the process of gathering more information and will not be commenting further on any open legal matters at this time.”
The 22-year-old Pierce finished third in the AP NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year voting. He had 10.5 sacks last season, the most for a rookie Micah Parsons In 2024, the Falcons selected Pierce with the 26th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
