The Ann Arbor Police Department confirmed to ESPN on Friday that it is currently investigating sexual assault allegations against Lewis. The woman’s attorney, Karen Truszkowski, told ESPN that her client filed an incident report with Ann Arbor PD and applied for a protective order against Lewis earlier this week.
Truszkowski said his client and Lewis met on a dating app and began communicating in July 2024, while Lewis was an assistant defensive line coach at Michigan. Lewis’s behavior “became increasingly aggressive” over texts and phone calls, Truszkowski said.
The two first met in person in December 2024 at the Weber Hotel in Ann Arbor, where Truszkowski said Lewis was to return items his client had given him. According to the lawyer, Lewis raped and beat his client in the hotel.
According to the woman’s attorney, the woman informed then-Michigan head coach Sharon Moore, whom she knew personally, about the incident. But Moore did not report Lewis and “weaponized” the incident against the woman, Truszkowski said, including sending her lewd and sexually charged text messages.
Moore’s attorney, Allen Michaels, denied the allegations in a statement to ESPN.
“Sharon Moore did not fail to report misconduct, did not reward wrongdoing and did not harass anyone,” she said. “These claims are false.”
In January 2025, officers from the Milford Police Department, north of Ann Arbor, responded to a call at a woman’s home after neighbors heard loud noises, according to an incident report obtained by ESPN. According to the report, both Lewis and the woman told officers at the time that they had gotten into a verbal argument that did not turn physical.
According to the incident report, the woman told police Lewis was a coach at Michigan and “said she did not want to talk about it.” No charges were filed.
Truszkowski said Lewis had physically abused her client during that incident but she was too afraid to tell police at the time.
