eBay to lay off 800 staff

eBay is cutting about 800 jobs, or 6% of its full-time workforce.

“We are taking steps to reinvest in our business and align our structure with our strategic priorities, which will impact certain roles in our workforce,” the company said in a statement. “We are grateful for the contributions of the affected employees and are committed to supporting them with care and respect.”

This round of layoffs is the third time in the past three years that eBay has cut jobs. Beginning in 2024, it plans to cut 1,000 jobs, or about 9% of its workforce. By early 2023, it plans to lay off about 500 employees, or about 4% of its total headcount.
