Durant: Ask World team if they plan to compete in All-Star Game

Houston– Kevin Durant Joked Wednesday that he’s playing with an “old head” team Lebron James, Stephen Curry (now sidelined) And kawhi leonard at the 2026 NBA All-Star Game — but the 37-year-old downplayed any concerns about how hard his team, the USA Stripes, will play.

“You should ask the European and world teams if they are going to compete.” Houston Rockets Starr said laughing. “if you look luka doncic And Nikola Jokic Now, let’s go back and see what they do in the All-Star Game. Is that competition? So, we did not question what they were doing. But we are going to question the old heads and the Americans.

“But these two guys out there, Luka and Jokic, they don’t care about the game at all. These guys are lying on the floor. They’re shooting from half the court. But you need to worry about the old guys playing hard? I can read between the lines, brother. It’s just an overall theme that everyone is talking about.”

NBA announced this Roster for the midseason showcase event Last week, 25 names were divided into three teams. This marks the beginning of another new All-Star format – this one a US vs. World round-robin tournament, on Sunday. LA Clippers‘ home in Inglewood, California.

Commissioner Adam Silver believed the new format would increase national pride for the players involved, but Durant preferred to take a wait-and-see approach.

For years, the topic of the US-versus-the-world concept has been discussed as a possible way to generate renewed interest in the All-Star Game. Durant seemed unsure whether the new format would work.

Durant was later told that San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama Intends to give maximum effort in the All-Star Game.

Speaking to reporters Tuesday night, Vembanyama said, “I’ve watched the All-Star Game and obviously it hasn’t been competitive. And I’ve always thought that if I was there, I would never step on the court without caring about losing. Like at home, I never step on the court without caring that I’m going to lose. … I’m going out there, I might as well win.”

Durant’s response: “We’ll see.”

Durant added, “He said that last year too.” “They said it was the worst All-Star Game people saw. So, we’re going to see. Who knows what’s going to happen? This format could change the game, but who knows? We’ll see.”
