American border agents discovered more electronic devices during a period of three months, according to new government data.
data show US Customs and Border Security, Agency tasked the immigration screening along the US border, discovered 14,899 equipment of international passengers through June between April, an increase of 17% on the previous record high recorded in 2022.
Most of these discoveries are “basic”, where American border agents demand passwords for passenger devices and see through its content without using the device.
While citizens cannot be denied entry into the US, their equipment can be seized indefinitely to deny the discovery of the device. Visitors may decline, but they will face rejection from the country.
Constitutionality of border discoveries is the subject of a hot debate, with Judicial opinion across the countryBut an issue that is yet to consider the US Supreme Court.
