Boulder, Colo.– colorado Coach Deion Sanders watched his team lose in the spring game on Saturday. He is going to remain like this in future also.
This is something he was not able to do around this time a year ago when he was diagnosed with bladder cancer and focused on his health.
On Saturday at Folsom Field, he was giving defensive advice during an hour-long scrimmage across the field. He would sometimes even stand in the end zone, taking stock of his team with folded hands.
“Everyone inside these doors can tell you it’s different when I’m here,” Sanders said. “I’m going to take my break like every other coach, but I love being here.”
Sanders recently left the team for a few days this spring due to a blood clot problem. However, when asked about his health, he repeatedly repeated, “I’m good, I’m good.”
While away, he leaned on his staff. This included a new pair of coordinators – Chris Marvey, the defensive boss, and Brennan Marion, overseeing the offense. Marve has replaced Robert Livingston – now with denver broncos – and Marion steps in for Pat Shurmur.
The task is to get the Buffaloes back to their winning ways after a season in which they went 3-9.
“We’re going to make it better,” Sanders said. “We already have the staff as well as the players who are inside the locker room. I love it. I love the everyday experience of it.”
“Things are definitely, I wouldn’t say 100%, but things are a lot better on the field and with the staff.”
Marion brings high-octane “go-go” crime to town. It wasn’t on full display Saturday, simply because Buffalo didn’t want to give away too much information about the system.
Go-Go planning emphasizes creativity and speed. quarterback Julian Lewis Early looked sharp, throwing 13-yard TD danny scuderotransfer from san jose stateWho had 88 catches for 1,297 yards and 10 touchdowns a year ago.
“I’m excited to see how good this connection can be,” Scudero said.
sanders reached long new England Patriots RECEIVER Julian Edelman In an effort to give Scudero some suggestions. Receivers are working on a schedule to chat.
“The idea of being able to talk to a legend like him is definitely huge,” Scudero said.
The final play of the scrimmage ended with defensive back Mojo Williams Jr. intercepting a pass. isaac wilsontransfer from utah. This was a play near and dear to Hall of Fame defensive back Sanders.
“We have some good things going on,” Sanders said. “You can see the fruits of that.”
the thinker is missing
In the roster, the Gold Team was listed number 7 — dominic ponder. The late quarterback was killed in the early hours of March 1 when he lost control on a turn and crashed into a guardrail. The car he was driving, a 2023 Tesla, struck a power line pole and rolled down an embankment.
The Buffaloes remembered him with a video tribute. His family started a foundation to help others, including student-athletes, and “promote responsible decision making.” According to the Boulder County Coroner’s Office autopsy report, Ponder’s blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit.
An opponent in spring sports?
Sanders wouldn’t mind setting up some kind of scrimmage or practice session with another team, like, Colorado State. This would be a way to draw national attention to the spring game.
“Nobody is taking spring for granted anymore,” Sanders said. “You don’t even have spring games at many of the major colleges. The only thing that would bring it back is us competing against another school. I’ve been saying this for the last several years, but…
“Glad I didn’t say what I was thinking. But I can’t be the first one to say it. It’s needed. … People get tired of the same old, same old, same old thing at a certain point. You want more.”
This scrimmage was free and 27,772 tickets were claimed. The fans were in the eastern part of the stadium.
Dion’s plans
In his spare time, Sanders intends to do a lot of fishing “at the crib,” he said. “Lake prime and lake time. I like to go fishing. I don’t go fishing.”
