Actor Robert De Niro supported President Trump in an MSNBC interview on Sunday, saying the president has “no empathy.”
“Trump doesn’t understand anything about humanity, about people,” De Niro said on MSNBC’s “The Weekend.” “He has no empathy. I don’t know where he is – what he is, but he is a foreigner, and he wants to harm this country.”
He added, “It’s something deep psychological inside him, he wants to hurt people.” “He wants to hurt this country, he doesn’t care.”
De Niro, a vocal Trump criticto plead strongly people will have to take to the streets On Saturday’s “No Kings Day” protest against the president.
“The original No Kings protest happened 250 years ago,” De Niro said on Instagram. “Since then we have had two and a half centuries of democracy that has been often challenging, sometimes messy, and always necessary.”

White House communications director Steven Cheung told The Hill on Monday that De Niro is “a fraud” and “hasn’t been relevant in 30 years.”
“Now, he is discrediting himself by giving hate speeches and inciting violence against others,” Cheung said.
