Good morning, wrestling fans! It’s early in the US, but in Australia it’s prime time for WWE action. The Crown Jewel event at the RAC Center in Perth featured two Crown Jewel Championship matches, the last international stop on the John Cena retirement tour, a tag team match filled with mixed emotions and a few matches called the Australian Street Fight.
Newly crowned Women’s World Champion Stephanie Walker defeated WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton in just the seventh match between the two current Women’s Champions. The card also included an Australian street fight involving a cricket bat, a rugby ball and Australian Bronson Reed defeating Roman Reigns with the help of his Vision teammate Braun Breaker.
Longtime rivals John Cena and AJ Styles entered the ring with high expectations and delivered something memorable. Both Superstars paid homage to finishing moves from other rivals such as Randy Orton, The Miz, Samoa Joe and others throughout the match. In a tag team match, Australian superstar Rhea Ripley and her somewhat reluctant partner Io Sky defeated Sky’s mentor-turned-enemy Asuka, with her sidekick Kairi Sane continuing the hits.
The Men’s Crown Jewel Championship between undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, who has not defeated Rhodes in three tries, concludes the show. The Crown Jewel Championship ring is at stake here, but the biggest prize is the right to be called the face of WWE – at least according to Rollins.
Stay tuned to ESPN’s Andreas Hell all morning for details of every match and the sights and sounds of Perth.
