Schottenheimer said when he watched the film again on Friday he saw no lack of effort from Pickens.
“I don’t think any of us coached enough or didn’t perform well,” Schottenheimer said. He later said, “Overall, I’m going to judge George on his work ethic, man. With his work ethic, he’s shown what an elite player he is and what a game changer he is. I don’t have any questions about that. We were talking about C.D. a couple of weeks ago, right. C.D. was coming off a tough game. [three drops], [against] Philadelphia, I think, maybe. And you look at the CD and the way he performed last night, it’s incredible. He was probably on pace for over 200 yards before he went out with the concussion.”
Pickens’ career catches (78), yards (1,179) and touchdowns (8) are all in the top 10 in the NFL.
As for Lamb, who had six catches for 121 yards before leaving the game, he is in the concussion protocol. The Cowboys will not play again until December 14.
“He had a good day [Friday],” Schottenheimer said of Lamb, “but he has to go through all the checks and balances of all those things. “I think a few extra days will hopefully help.”
