There are no new teams in this week’s poll and the top three teams have retained their positions. After a week of blowout wins (which we’ll cover below), Oklahoma moved up to the No. 4 ranking, overtaking Nebraska. Alabama and UCLA also moved closer to the top of the standings. For now, not much has changed, but with still-undefeated Tennessee playing at ranked LSU in a three-game series, perhaps this week could be a chaotic one for the best team in the country.

Oklahoma’s offense, as we’ll explore below, has been ferocious this season, and Wells is as responsible for its performance as anyone. The catcher already has 15 home runs on the season. For context, Oklahoma’s next opponent, North Texas, has 19 home runs on the season…as a team.

In the third inning of a 29-6 victory over Alabama State on Saturday, Oklahoma scored an impressive 21 runs, the second-highest single-inning run in NCAA softball history. The historic frame included two grand slams and 24 plate appearances.

Undefeated Tennessee has already recorded five wins against ranked opponents this season and will look to continue that streak in a three-game series against LSU starting on Friday. The Tigers, on the other hand, have lost only two of their ranking matches – in a tough loss to Duke and a shutout against UCLA. Can they pull off a convincing win against the Lady Vols?
