The committee of lawyers for civil rights under NAACP and law filed a lawsuit on Tuesday, alleging that A new Congress map passed in Texas Votes Rights violates the Act.
The trial alleges that Texas racially germander his map in such a way that he prevents black voters from being able to choose their choice for the office.
Texas Republican passed a new Congress map in the State Legislature this month, which may potentially give five pickup opportunities to its party in the House before 2026. Texas Gove Greg Abbott (R) has not signed the map in the law, but is expected to do so soon.
Democrats have criticized the Texas Republican, who is already to pursue the GOP-Pasandida House Map towards Republican, arguing that it breaks communities of interest and is bending a knee to the Republican President Trump and the White House to mid-destinted.
NAACP President and CEO Deric Johnson said in a statement, “The state of Texas is only 40 percent white, but white voters control 73 percent of the Congress’s seats.”
He said, “It is clear that before next year’s mid-term elections, the attempt to revive the middle-dress between Texas is racially motivated,” he said. “The intention of the state here is to reduce the members of the Congress who represent black communities, and that, and in itself, is unconstitutional.”
Under the law, the chairman and executive director of the committee of lawyers for civil rights. Hewitt described the map in his own statement as “deliberately harmful” and “discriminatory”.
“Black and brown voters are better in Texas. They are legally and constitutionally entitled,” he said. “These maps contrast, and they should not stand.”
