an ex-girlfriend of kansas city chiefs RECEIVER Rashi Rice has filed a lawsuit in Texas alleging he repeatedly assaulted her during an 18-month period from 2023 to 2025. Dekoda Jones, who said she was pregnant during several of the alleged attacks, is seeking more than $1 million.
Jones alleges Rice strangled her in December 2023 and displayed a history of abusive behavior through relationships in Texas and Missouri through July 2025.
“Rice grabbed, choked, choked, pushed, threw, scratched, struck, and head-butted Ms. Jones, as well as struck her with inanimate objects,” the lawsuit states.
The lawsuit filed Monday also says Rice punched walls, destroyed property and broke furniture, as well as locking her out of her apartment at night.
Jones claimed physical pain and mental anguish, physical impairment, disfigurement, past and future medical care, and loss of earnings as part of the damages in the lawsuit.
It is unclear whether police in the Dallas or Kansas City areas, where the couple lived, were alerted to domestic violence incidents at their homes. ESPN records requests have so far yielded no results.
One of Jones’ attorneys declined to comment.
“The club is aware [of the lawsuit] and remains in communication with the National Football League,” the Chiefs said in a statement Wednesday. Messages with Rice’s agents and Rice were not immediately returned to ESPN.
“On October 9, 2025, well after the parties had ended their relationship, Ms. Jones stated in a non-prosecution affidavit under penalty of perjury that ‘Mr. Rice and I had a verbal altercation, but he did not punch me,'” Rice’s attorney Sean Lindsey said in a statement. “We will let the legal process take its course and will have no further comment at this time.”
Jones’ lawsuit makes no mention of any incident on October 9, nor does it allege any incident in which he punched her.
Jones initially posted Photos of alleged abuse On Instagram last month, multiple photos of a split lip, bruises on her legs and chest, scratches on her face and shoulders and damaged property were visible. Jones indirectly referred to her alleged abuser as the father of her two children.
In a since-deleted Instagram post, she wrote: “I’m so tired of being silent, I’m so tired of protecting his image. I’ve been through so much and been through so much in a span of 8 years!” She said she and Rice broke up in 2025 “and it’s been nothing but hell since then.”
The NFL said it would investigate the woman’s claims after the initial allegations were posted. The league said Wednesday that “the matter remains under review.”
