Kansas City, MO. – The NFL announced Friday that it has completed its investigation. Chiefs RECEIVER Rashi RiceStating that he “has not engaged in conduct that violates the personal conduct policy.” The NFL also said the investigation into allegations by Rice’s former girlfriend Dekoda Jones has been closed.
At this time, the 25-year-old Rice will not be disciplined by the league, which determined there was “insufficient evidence to support a conclusion that he violated the personal conduct policy.”
“Mr. Rice would like to thank the NFL for their thorough investigation and looks forward to the start of the 2026-27 NFL season,” Rice’s attorney Sean Lindsay said in a statement.
The Chiefs had no comment on the NFL’s decision Friday.
In early January, Jones posted photos on his Instagram account showing bruises and wounds on several parts of his body, alleging years of abuse. Jones did not name Rice or anyone else in the post, but she says the man who abused her is the father of her children. Jones has two children with Rice.
In a since-deleted Instagram post, Jones wrote: “I’m so tired of being silent. I’m so tired of protecting her image. I’ve been through so much in an 8 year period and enough is enough!” She said she and Rice broke up in 2025 “and it’s been nothing but hell since then.”
Jones too filed a lawsuit In February in Texas, she alleged that Rice repeatedly attacked her during an 18-month period from 2023 to 2025. She said she was pregnant during several of the alleged attacks. She is seeking more than $1 million. Jones also alleges that Rice strangled her in December 2023.
“Rice grabbed, choked, choked, pushed, threw, scratched, struck, and head-butted Ms. Jones, as well as struck her with inanimate objects,” the lawsuit states.
In response to the lawsuit, Lindsay released a statement: “On October 9, 2025, well after the parties’ relationship ended, Ms. Jones stated under penalty of perjury in a sworn statement for non-prosecution that ‘Mr. Rice and I had a verbal altercation, but he did not punch me.’ We will let the legal process take its course.”
Following Jones’ claims, the NFL conducted its own investigation.
In March 2024, Rice was the driver of a Lamborghini Urus SUV going 119 mph on the North Central Expressway in Dallas, caused a multicar accident Due to which many people were injured. One of Rice’s classmates at SMU, Theodore Knox, was the driver of a black Corvette. Rice, Knox, and their three friends did not investigate the injured, but fled on foot before the police arrived. This incident was also captured in the video.
Less than two weeks later, Rice took full responsibility and apologized in a statement released before turning himself in at the Glen Heights Police Department after an arrest warrant was issued. In July, Rice was sentenced to 30 days in jail and five years of probation for his role in the crash. He pleaded guilty in district court to two third-degree felony charges – collision involving serious bodily injury and running on a highway resulting in bodily injury. He received deferred adjudication. If he completes probation the case will be dismissed.
The incident led to the NFL suspending Rice six games last season for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.
In August 2025, Knox pleaded guilty to a collision involving serious bodily injury and highway racing causing bodily injury and was sentenced to 30 days in jail and five years of probation. Last month, a Texas court issued a default judgment against Knox for more than $2.8 million. Rice’s case is scheduled to be heard on June 9.
