Cheryl Hines: 'Disappointing' Kennedy family has split with RFK Jr.

Cheryl Hines says she thinks Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. finds it “disappointing” to be at odds with her relatives, and to speak out against public “attacks” from members of what she considered a close-knit family.

“It was hard. I found it hard,” Hines said when asked by “CBS Mornings'” Natalie Morales.tuesday interviewIf anything, it was difficult for the “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star to watch her “feud” with her husband’s family over politics.

Hines said, “I always thought of the Kennedy family, one of their qualities was that family came first, and I admired that.”

In her interview with CBS News, Hines said that even her husband’s mother, Ethel Kennedy, was surprised by the move.

“Bobby told her he was running for president, and she told him he was proud of her and then asked, ‘Which of the siblings is working on your campaign?'” Hines told Morales.

“And she said they weren’t working on it and some people were opposing her. And she was very surprised,” said Hines, author of the new memoir “Unscripted.”

He said that apart from family rifts, politics has also spoiled some of his relationships with friends.

“I have a few friends who, when Bobby entered the political arena, made it very difficult for me to stay emotionally close to them; there were just a few friends,” Hines said.

“And I understand that,” she said.

Asked what “Curb Your Enthusiasm” creator and co-star Larry David thought about Kennedy joining President Trump’s Cabinet, Hines responded with a laugh, “That would be a question for Larry.”

“But let’s be honest,” she said of David, aTrump criticwho introduced Hines to Kennedy, “He couldn’t love it.”
