TEMPE, Ariz. – Jonathan Gannon believes he’ll still be Cardinals‘Coaches in a week when head coach firings start happening around the NFL.
When asked during his Monday press conference if he thought he’d be in the same seat for his postseason news conference in a week, his answer was brief: “Yes.” Gannon said his reasoning was that he had confidence in himself.
Gannon was later asked if he had been told his job was safe for the 2026 season and while saying he “didn’t want to get into all this”, he then added: “I feel good.”
Gannon leads the Cardinals to SoFi Stadium for the season finale on Sunday Los Angeles Rams With a 3–13 record, that tied for the franchise’s worst single season since the 1970 NFL–AFL merger. If the Cardinals lose on Sunday, Gannon will become the owner of the organization’s worst record in the last 55 years.
Gannon said there were “a lot” of discussions during his conversations with owner Michael Bidwill.
“I do the same process I’ve done the last two years: I try to take detailed notes, try to get the pulse of what’s going on, but you can’t let that happen… I have to think a little bit about the future, obviously given the seat I’m in, but my focus is really on L.A. and having time to see all of them and have conversations and make changes,” Gannon said. “Nobody’s happy. I’m not happy. The players aren’t happy. In adverse situations, you have to change. So, I have to change, and we have to change some things, but we’ll get there.”
Gannon said he did not regret making bigger, more sweeping changes throughout the season because, “I thought it was the best thing for the team.”
