If you’ve watched the new Apple TV show “Pluribus” to the end, you may have seen this noticed an unusual disclaimer In the credits: “This show was created by humans.”
That brief message — placed just below a note that “animal wranglers were on set to ensure animal safety” — could potentially provide a model for other filmmakers who want to highlight that their work was created without the use of generative AI.
And if the disclaimer wasn’t clear enough, creator Vince Gilligan (known for “Better Call Saul”) was even more forceful. Variety feature story about the showBluntly declaring, “I hate AI.”
He described the technology as “the world’s most expensive and energy-intensive plagiarism machine” and compared AI-generated content to “a cow ruminating – an endless cycle of nonsense”.
“Thank you, Silicon Valley!” he added laughing. “Yet, you have ruined the world.”
“Pluribus” marks the former “X-Files” writer’s return to science fiction, and it reunites him with his “Better Call Saul” co-star Rhea Seehorn, who plays a romantic writer facing an alien invasion.
