Boebert reelection campaign asks, 'Are aliens real?!'

Denver (kdvr) – Colorado Representative Lauren Boebert (right) is running for re-election in her new district, and her latest campaign strategy is tackling an unusual topic.

In an email Monday, Boebert questioned the existence of aliens and demanded transparency from the government about UFOs.

The email reads, in part:

“For decades, our government has shrouded the truth about UFOs in a veil of secrecy.

“We have seen strange ships fly through our skies, defying the laws of physics, and yet bureaucrats in Washington behave as if we are too naive to handle the facts.

“They tell us we’re crazy like we can’t see these things flying in the air with our own eyes.

“I say enough! The American people are not children to be spoon-fed half-truths or dismissed with vague excuses. We deserve to know what’s really going on out there.”

The email contains a link to a website that asks, “Are aliens real?” And asks supporters to donate money to Lauren Boebert for Congress.

“Honestly, it’s almost a cry for help in politics,” Andy Boian, a Democratic analyst and founder of the consulting firm Dovetail Solutions, told Nexstar’s KDVR.

According to Boian, candidates on both sides of the political aisle often use attention-grabbing strategies when they are desperate for more money or more voter support.

“None of this I’m seeing right now, so I’m not really sure why this would go to the conservatives in her district,” Boian said. “And she might raise a few thousand dollars, but she’d also get a lot of strange looks.”

Boebert’s campaign team confirmed the authenticity of the email to KDVR and said the digital campaign is “performing very well.”

Morgan Vaughn said, “I agree with him. I think it’s time to get real about what could happen.”

Vaughn is a resident of the Flying Saucer RV Resort in Sheridan. It’s not within the 4th Congressional District, which Boebert represents, but Vaughn said the community is full of people who also want to know what’s going on in the skies.

“I think it’s the perfect place to get into it because we see stuff flying all the time and we just think, what could that be?” Vaughn said.

She said Boebert’s campaign strategy would get her votes if she lived in Boebert’s congressional district.

Vaughn said, “I can tell she has a personality too, and she has an open mind and she’s not afraid to reach for new truths because there aren’t a lot of truths floating around right now.”

Boian agrees that there is likely to be more engagement on the topic of UFOs among people who receive emails. However, he questions the timing of the campaign.

Boian said, “The government is shut down, and there’s no room to talk right now. So, what he needs to do is create a path to reopen the government, not worry about whether there are UFOs in our skies or not.”
