Jeff Bezos’ space company Blue Origin is finally ready for the second launch attempt of its super heavy-lift rocket New Glenn. The company announced Wednesday that it will attempt a launch on Sunday, Nov. 9 from Launch Complex 36 in Cape Canaveral, Florida.
New Glen’s first flight back JanuaryAnd it was mostly successful. The rocket’s second stage made it into orbit, but the first stage exploded upon return to Earth before Blue Origin could attempt to land it on a drone ship in the ocean.
Earlier this year, the company said it would attempt to launch the New Glenn a second time “in the late spring.” However, that timeline slipped a few times. Blue Origin is taking extra precautions with the second launch as this time it will be carrying cargo on behalf of paying customers. The main payload is NASA’s twin ESCAPADE spacecraft, headed for Mars. A Viasat technology demonstrator will also be on board.
