Bearman slams Las Vegas GP as ‘least enjoyable’ street circuit

LAS VEGAS–Formula 1 newbie Oliver Biermann gave it a go las vegas grand prix A scathing review after tasting it for the first time said it was the “least enjoyable” street circuit he had ever driven.

The Haas driver was one of a number of rookie drivers who experienced the circuit, which includes the city’s famous strip, for the first time during Thursday’s two practice sessions.

He was surprised at what it was really like to drive on it in cool evening conditions.

“This is the least enjoyable street track I’ve ever driven on,” Bearman told Sky Sports F1 after FP2.

“Usually they’re really, really fun and great. It’s really, really low-grip, which is not a good combination when you have walls that close.

“It’s incredibly high speeds, which is dangerous. I mean, the track itself is cool for racing down the strip in Las Vegas, but other than that there’s not much cool stuff out there.”

Light rain also made racing difficult for most drivers on Thursday.

Speaking to F1’s official channel, Bearman said: “To be honest, those first few laps I did in FP1 – obviously it’s a new track for me – I was surprised by how little grip there was. It’s very bad out there.”

The second practice session on Thursday evening was delayed by a loose drain cover, similar to the infamous incident that marred the event’s debut in 2023 when someone wrecked Carlos Sainz’s Ferrari in the opening minutes of the first session.

The Las Vegas race is unique on the calendar as it is the only event where Formula 1 is the host and promoter, rather than a host that charges an independent race promoter a fee for the event.

The sport has invested heavily in the event, including purpose-built facilities that make up the pit and paddock complex.
