Air Canada will resume flights on Sunday after intervening to end up by Northern Neighbor Government Workers strike Hundreds of flights stopped at the end of this week.
Airline Said in a statement The Canadian Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) directed Air Canada to resume airline operations and ordered all Air Canada and Air Canada Roose flight attendants to return to work by EDT at 2 pm on Sunday.
CIRB was working on Saturday’s instructions from Canadian Jobs and Family, Patty Hazdu, who went to end the strike and required final binding mediation to break a contract deadlock. The order extended the current contract until a new agreement was reached.
For the first time after 1985, about 10,000 flight attendants went from job on Saturday, as a new contract progressed after several months of talks.
The step took place to over 100,000 passengers worldwide and resulted in suspension of about 700 daily flights. The airline started canceling flights on Friday in anticipation of the strike.
The airline said in a statement that it would resume flights on Sunday evening, but it expects the further flight to be canceled in the next seven to 10 days “until the schedule becomes stable.”
