The much-awaited November inflation report showed prices rising at a much slower pace, surprising analysts and markets after a year of steadily rising costs. According to consensus forecasts, the consumer price index (CPI) rose 2.7 percent year-on-year through November, much slower than the 3.1 percent annual inflation rate expected by economists.
