3 killed in shooting at Austin Target store

Austin, Texas (Kxan) – North Austin, three people were killed in a shoot on a target in Austin, Texas, on Monday afternoon, police said.

Chief Lisa Davis said that the police were called to the target at 2:15 am in 8601 Research Bulleward. They reached the scene within minutes and shot three people in target parking.

The suspect kidnapped a car and removed, Davis said. He crashed the car, he said, then kidnapped another vehicle.

He was finally detained in South Austin. The suspect was described by Davis as a 32 -year -old man with the history of mental health issues, but his name was not released.

Police said two people were declared dead at the scene, and the other was rushed to a local hospital where he died. Officials said a fourth person was treated for unrelated injuries.

A target employee said, “I was inside the store, but then I heard on the radio, the shots were fired so they told us to the active shooter … so we just ran out, we asked the guests to get out.”

The police refused to share the details on the victims on Monday afternoon. Davis said, “This is a very sad day for Austin. It is a very sad day for all of us and my condolences go out for families.”

The police urged the community to stay away from the target store.

Roads in the area were also closed on Monday afternoon and vehicles were being organized in the parking lot as the investigation continued.
