2026 women’s college basketball projections

Rule

ESPN’s bracketology efforts are focused on introducing the area of NCAA tournament, such as we expect NCAA Division I Basketball Committee to select the area in March. The ESPN brackets uses the same data points liked by the Charlie Cream Committee, including the strength of the schedule and other season-length indicators, including net and team-sheet data, available for NCAA, which is available in its estimates of the region. Go to NCAA’s website for full understanding of NCAA Selection Criteria,

64 team brackets

The 64-Team Bracket is the standard version of the NCAA tournament field since 1994. If 64 teams are included in the 2021 field, there will be some significant differences in the previous years, though.

Primary adjustment from a normal year, of course, is a game of the entire NCAA tournament on the same site. This eliminates the need for geographical ideas in sowing. Additionally, this season will be at least one less automatic qualifier, as the Ivy League decision to release the 2020-21 season reduces the number of AQ entries for this season to 31.

48-Team Bracket

In this launch, a condensed selection process will reduce the area by eight-large teams and eight automated qualifiers (of which still receive a revenue unit). The top four seeds in each area will receive a bye in the second round, with four first round games per field – 5 vs 12, 6 vs 11, 7 vs 10 and 8 vs. 9.

16-Team Bracket

In this launch, the committee selects 16 best available teams and gives seeds. There are no automatic qualifiers, although all non-competitive conferences receive champions named Revenue Unit.

To maintain some feeling of national balance, the participation of the conference is dominated by four teams. And no field will have more than one team than the same conference.
