This is August and no game has been played, but it is not preventing ESPN’s college football reporters from predicting 12 schools that will start the college football playoffs in December.
Ohio State won the 12-Team bracket inaugurated last season, despite starting as number 8 seeds, showing that the playoff really gives new life to any team that attains entry.
There is a slight change in the format this year. The tournament will still join the top five conference champions and seven-big schools. But the top four seeds-and the first round to come with those seeds will not go to the four-ranked conference champions (last season Ooregan, Georgia, Bois State and Arizona State). This season the committee has gone directly into a seeding model, so four highest ranked schools in the final top 12 of the committee will get the top four seeds.
