The Trump administration is sending some 200 marines in Florida to assist immigration and customs enforcement (ICE) in its exile raid in the state, the US Army on Thursday announced.
Marine, which will come from Marine Wing Support Squadron 272 located in New River, Neck, will support the ICE in its “internal immigration enforcement mission” through “important administrative and logical capabilities” at the places guided by the Agency, according to a statement by the US Northern Command (Northcom).
Release said that Marines are the “first wave” of service members to help in their exile efforts, expecting other deployment in Louisiana and Texas.
Northcom insisted that the service members participating in this mission would demonstrate “strictly non-law enforcement duties” within the facilities of snow, which focuses on administrative and logical functions.
According to the statement, “They are particularly banned from direct contact with individuals in snow custody or participate in any aspect of the detention chain.”
The gathering of Marine was in response to the Department of Homeland Security Requests made for Pentagon on 9 May, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth approved the mobilization of 700 active, National Guards and Reserve Component forces.
In his second term, President Trump has used the army much more in his immigration agenda than his first. The administration has sent 8,500 service members to the US-Maxico border and 5,000 Los Angeles-including 700 marines-to protect horses and ice agents, who have received pushbacks due to immigration raids.
