China Communist Party is emphasizing the decision of the House Selection Committee Chairman, Rape John Mulanar (R-Mich.), Trump Administration, which once again to allow technology company NVidia to sell some artificial intelligence (AI) chips to China.
In a letter written to Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnik on Friday, the Congressman expressed concern about the reversal over Novidia’s H20 chips, suggesting that it could promote China’s AI capabilities.
“H20, which is a cost-effective and powerful AI innervent chip, crosses China’s indigenous capacity and therefore will provide sufficient growth for China’s AI development,” Molenaar wrote.
NVIDIA announced on Monday that after receiving assurances from the Chipmaker Trump administration, he was filing an application to sell its H20 chips again that its licenses will be given.
Chipmaker revealed earlier this year that the US government is implementing new licensing requirements that would limit its ability to sell chips in China. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang came up shortly after meeting with President Trump.
Lutnik suggested that the Trump administration opted to reduce restrictions as part of a widespread rare earth deal with China, underlining that Beijing is only getting Nvidia’s “fourth best” chip.
However, Molenaar argued that the major issue is how the H20 chip compare those who develop in China and the Commerce Department proposed its export controls to its export control for “minor technical improvements” on China’s current capabilities.
“As the Trump administration has repeatedly stated, America should ensure that the American global AI infrastructure rather than Chinese technology companies,” he said. “At the same time, however, we should also ensure that the world does not adopt a Chinese AI model trained on American technology.”
“Approval of the sale of large versions of H20S can provide computer power to China, which needs to be developed by the powerful AI models that are open to users, as Deepsek has done with R1,” Molenaar continued. “As China has done in many other industries, it is a deliberate strategy to capture market share and become a global standard.”
