Ole miss Freshman football player Corey Adams was killed in a shooting in Tennessee on Saturday night.
The office of the Shelby County Sheriff said that 18 -year -old Adams died at the scene in Cordova, Tenasi, just outside the memphis. Four other people were shot outside a residence and were taken to the area hospitals. No one is listed in critical condition.
Adams was a protective lineman of New Orleans who enrolled in Ole Miss Is this winter. He earned an all-state honor for Edna Karr High School twice.
“While our program is trying to deal with this tragic loss, our thoughts are with their loved ones during this incredibly difficult time,” Ole Miss said in a statement. The duties of Shelby County Sheriff responded to the scene on Saturday night and stopped a car at an intersection where the shooting took place. He found Adams inside and provided life-saving measures until the arrival of Shelby County Fire personnel, who declared him dead.
