East Rutherford, NJ – It was a Friday afternoon. New York Giants After two weeks the team was still winless and coach Brian Daboll was in the middle of his usual Friday press conference before his team played its home opener. kansas city chiefs,
A reporter was asking Dabolg questions as the rookie running back cam skatebowFootball’s version of the Tasmanian Devil followed the media pack. Skattebo stopped, smiled and waved sarcastically to Daboll behind the row of cameras.
Dabol closed his eyes, smiled and nodded his head. He had lost his power of thought.
“Sorry, Skattebo,” Daboll said as if this kind of humorous conversation was a common occurrence. “Can you repeat? [that question]Please.”

At that time, anyone at the Quest Diagnostic Training Center could hear Skattebo’s trademark call.
“Wuuuuuu!” Newbie shouted as he ran onto the field.
This is Cam Scatebo, the energetic and unique Giants fourth-round pick who never spoke from an inside voice and used to run into telephone poles as a little kid. He hits the ground running with the enthusiasm of a 10-year-old kid given carte blanche in a candy store.
This was his daily routine when he came on the field in the training camp. This extended to the regular season.
“It’s a daily thing,” Daboll said when it all unfolded several weeks ago.
Skatabo was still not complete.
“Wuuuuuu!” After a few moments he shouted again.
“Let’s f— let’s go!” He added.
this is type of energy Skatabo brings to the team both in the building and on the field.
Skatabo and the rookie quarterback jackson dart A new element has been added to the Giants entering Thursday night’s matchup with rival philadelphia eagles (8:15 PM EST, Fox) Close hard loss till New Orleans Saints On Sunday. Skatobo and his new quarterback played strong games in the Darts’ debut, leading to an upset win over the Darts los angeles chargersThis past week was a reality check. Dart had three turnovers, and Skattebo’s fumble in the red zone was returned for a touchdown in a 26–14 loss to the Saints.
But these are players the Giants are counting on to carry them forward offensively. Dart was selected by Ole Miss in the first round. Skattebo was a Heisman Trophy finalist who has proven doubters wrong everywhere from high schools in Northern California to Sacramento State to Arizona State before falling in the fourth round. His youthful enthusiasm gives a different feel to the team.
,[Skattebo’s] It happens almost all the time,” Daboll said after the interruption at the news conference.
That’s who Skattebo is as a player and teammate. This is evident from the stories told by his peers and parents:
Becky Scatebo, Mother:
“Cam has always been able to figure out how to get up, over and under things. He would get out of every car seat you could find. That’s how he got the nickname ‘Houdini’ because if you didn’t want to be anywhere, he was getting out of the situation he was in. … He would put pads on his brother’s shoulders and he would crash into telephone poles. Once he got on the ground, the punishment he got was there was nothing surprising about it hit your body and everyone else,
Leo Scatebo, Dad
“So you guys only see the football part of it. He’s not like that in his personal life. He’s very quiet.” [has a] Very calm behavior with us in his personal life. But then anything that comes with competitiveness like video games or basketball or football, that’s when the intensity comes through. It’s like a switch that he turns on because if he’s not playing or doing something, he’s the most laid back kid. I never asked him, but it’s a little weird. He goes between the boundaries and he turns into some kind of competitiveness and then his energy changes.
“When he was younger, he didn’t have that friendly personality with the team because he was always the best player. So he didn’t have to annoy the kids. The kids were just attracted to him and they just got fed up with him and then trusted him. I think that friendly nature probably started at ASU because I don’t think he was crazy. [Sacramento] Either tell me. I think when we got him together, ASU [coach Kenny] Dillingham and that environment opened up his personality more, I think, inside the locker room and then in practice.”
“He was always tough. So when he was younger, he got in trouble a lot by the refs and stuff because he hit so hard. You get flags because, oh, he must have done something wrong because the other kid is laying on his back. His personality has always been the type of guy that he puts all his energy into somebody. And it’s been like that since day one. He never shies away from it.”
QB Jackson Dart, close friend and fellow rookie:
“Scat is a guy for whom it doesn’t matter where he is or who’s around him. He just works himself. I think people try to figure that out when you don’t really know a person. But when you figure out that it’s real, you understand what kind of friend he is, what kind of teammate he is. He’ll do anything to win. That’s something people really rally around. He’s a There is a spark.
“First [time we met] We said three words to each other and just smashed each other’s heads. That was somewhat like the beginning of our relationship. when we first came here [Giants] facility and met each other for the first time. We were able to spend more time on the plane [NFLPA] Rookie Premiere and they put us right next to everyone. Obviously we’re still getting to know each other. I fell asleep on the plane and woke up to find this guy making me wet and trying to put food on my face while I was sleeping. This is a kind of accurate representation. it is 100% [who he is],
cubby jameis winston,
“When he was selected, he sent me a picture of himself eating a ‘W’. [Winston’s signature bit] And said, ‘Come on!!!’ His draft was ready the same day. I was like, ‘Man, I love you.’ He is amazing. And I always admired him at Arizona State. Just seeing this, he ate at Arizona State. I knew he was wild.”
WR/KR gunner olszewski,
“He spits out anything. You don’t know, sometimes it’s right, sometimes it’s wrong. But it’s always loud. It’s too much [in] We have any meeting. He is going to say something. However, he is learning. He is amazing. He is as genuine as they come. He really is an idiot. [Reserved] Not in his wheelhouse. He doesn’t know where he is. Most rookies when they first come to the league they’re like, ‘Oh my God, it’s the NFL.’ For him, it’s just another day of playing football.”
RB Tyrone Tracy Jr.,
“Everybody tells me, ‘Brother, hold your dog.’ I said, ‘Brother, what do you want me to do? Tell him to shut up?’ He always keeps shouting. He is very fast. We’ll be in meetings and Scat asks a question – just shouts it out. He may be wrong, but he will shout it out and everyone will see MeI say, ‘Brother, what do you all want me to do?’ There is nothing crazy about this. Like, he’s always yelling. Be it yelling in the living room or yelling when he goes out for practice or anything else. He is very strong. I think if you paid him to stay sober for a day, he wouldn’t be able to do it. That’s what I think.”
RB dante miller,
“I have never seen [some]Chew the seeds with a force. He eats vigorously. He does every work with great enthusiasm. it’s quiet [in the meeting room] And he’s eating seeds and I think, that’s not normal.
“What kind of crazy cartoon character is that? That’s a very, very good comparison. Like the Tasmanian Devil. I like him. But he chews his seeds very loudly.”
te Daniel Bellinger,
“Zero filter. The first time in a special teams meeting he asked, what’s our job? Our job is to play with speed, get off the ball. And this beast just goes on ‘Physicality!’ And it made no sense. [He] Just shouts things. No filters at all. Whether it is right or wrong, he will shout it out. That’s scat for you. I mean I have some characters. i feel like [Sterling Shepard] Was kind of wild. Some of these people, Ihmir [Smith-Marsette] A little wild. But this guy is one of a kind. No filter.
“The first time I met him we were in the sauna and then we went into the ice tub and we were sitting there in the ice tub and this guy, as soon as we get in, starts screaming. He said, ‘Aahhh!’ I said, ‘Are you okay?’ This boy is a little different. And I’ve never met another fellow like him.”
wr Jalin Hayat,
“We are looking [his big block in the opener] And we’re definitely trying to teach him to keep his head up high so he doesn’t get fined or anything. But it’s hard to do that with him. He’s running backwards, you know what I mean? He wants to pass through anyone he sees. So it’s hard to tell people running to keep their heads up. We are trying. “It may take some time.”
LB bobby okerekedefensive captain
“I love it. As a young player, that’s how you build a great roster. You have veteran leadership and presence and young energy. He definitely brings that. He’s tearing up the crowd. He’s booing and yelling and energizing people. And from a physical standpoint, he brings it.”
