Former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) cast his vote for the city’s next mayor on Tuesday while wearing a “Hot Girls for Zoharan” T-shirt.
“One of the most enjoyable votes I’ve ever cast!” De Blasio wrote briefly Post on social platform Which contained a photo of the former mayor with a shirt supportive of Democratic candidate Zohran Mamdani. “What a beautiful day for NYC!”
The former mayor, who led the city for two terms from 2014-21, endorsed Mamdani in early September. Op-ed published in the New York Daily News. De Blasio said, “We don’t need to make Zohran Mamdani our mayor just because he has the right ideas, or because they are achievable.” “We need him because in his heart and in his bones he cannot accept a city that pays the price for the people who built it and run it.”
De Blasio has long feuded with former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (D), particularly when they were both in office. Cuomo is running as an independent candidate for mayor after losing to Mamdani in the Democratic primary.
“He’s a scoundrel. He’s obsessed with revenge,” de Blasio said of Cuomo in June. He said that he often talked about the city while in office.
He said, “I think their understanding of New York City is a little bit stuck in the 1980s and ’90s. I don’t think they realize the affordability crisis.”
An Emerson College polling/PIX11/The Hill survey of New York City residents released last week found that 50 percent of respondents supported Mamdani, while 25 percent supported Cuomo, 21 percent supported Republican Curtis Sliwa and 4 percent said they were undecided.
Cuomo received endorsements from former Mayor Michael Bloomberg (D), current Mayor Eric Adams (D), SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, and President Trump. The president told New Yorkers they “really have no choice.”

Trump has called Mamdani a communist And in a Truth Social post on Tuesday he said Jewish New Yorkers who voted for him are “idiots.”
