America risks global credibility from human rights, immigration policy inconsistencies

Recently releasedUS State Department Human Rights ReportPassImportant disputedLength notable cuts and coverage release, release delay, and alleged bias, especially on countries like countriesHungary,BrazilAndSouth Africa,

Migration is uniformly disconnected between policy and Report Inadvertently reporting of countries such as Haiti, Ukraine and Afghanistan and inadvertent countries such as Al Salvador. Each case highlights this disturbed incompatibility, as well as the desire to deport people for dangerous situations, and – more widely – a significant deviation from the US foreign policy.

The State Department should seriously review the concerns raised by journalists and defenders of democracy, which are about the misconduct of human rights conditions in countries formed with the US and with whom tension is present.

The Homeland Security Department should carefully review those past or pending exile in highly unsafe countries. Given the responsibility of its important surveillance, the Congress should investigate whether the exiles have to face life-threatening conditions due to American exile, as it will be both the counter for inhuman and the US democratic values.

The inconsistency between American human rights reporting and immigration policy is most clearly seen in efforts to raise protective designations for some foreign nationals in the United States. This provisional legal Classification When a home country is considered temporarily insecure or “adequately” unable to handle the return of its citizens.

Hotian initially achieved a temporary protected position due to the 2010 natural disaster, followed by the extensions triggered by extreme security situations that become unsafe. Human rights report found that human rights status “Gone a lotCitizens lack state capacity to protect civilians in areas such as gang violence and freedom of expression of individuals. “

Nevertheless, the administration has recently demanded to raise a temporary protected position for HiTians. End Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela parole program that allowed some citizens of those four countries to legally enter and work temporarily into the United States. The courts blocked the attempt to remove the temporary protected position of Hotian, but the Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela parole program were allowed to move forward. The status of the administration on these programs reflects a disturbing difference between report and the human immigration policy.

Similarly, Homeland’s Security Secretary Christie NoM announced in May that the United States would cancel a temporary protected situation for Afghan citizens, many of which supported American objectives in Afghanistan.

“Afghanistan has a better security situation, and its stable economy no longer stops them from returning to their country,”Noam arguedIn determining that the temporary protected position “no longer meets statutory requirements” conditions.

But Human rights report states that “There was a significant decline in relation to women’s rights during the year” and members of the Taliban “allegedly killed individuals in vengeance for their cooperation with the previous 2021 government.”

It is especially related to the Afghans who served American interests and faced an increased threat of vengeance on return. Except for moral arguments against sending the US helping the US, the report of the State Department makes a case that they will be put in serious threat from deporting them.

Similarly, Ukrainians who have escaped from the brutal Russian war were given a temporary human status due to war. The administration withdrew this situation, which means that more than 120,000 Ukrainians will be forced to return to them.MotherlandIf they lack existing asylum requests.

Additional concern is that in third countries there is American exile in the third countries who have clearly clearly problematic human rights records in human rights reports, such as South Sudan, Rwanda And Eswatini,

in the matter ofEl SalvadorWhose chairman is a close partner in the exile efforts of the administration, the assessment of the State Department has separated from the widespread evidence by respected sources that there are major human rights violations against children. The country’s report states that “there is no reliable report of” important human rights violations “while questioning its credibility.

While deporting the people of the United States is under the purview of any US administration and removing people with criminal records is the standard policy, sending these individuals to countries where they can face significant misuse and threat, there is a disturbing deviation from traditional American standards and simple decency. Therefore cutting deals and providing US financial and/or political assistance to problematic governance and leaders, which host deports, but is also approved by the United States, as is accompanied by South Sudani leader Benjamin Bol Mail.

Historically a powerful tool in American policy -making, human rights reports have traditionally provided an objective source to inform foreign and domestic policy, reflect American values and project American Democratic global leadership. Immigration enforcement, including expulsion, is an essential component of immigration policy. But this should not reduce American values and foreign policy objectives.

Any distance between American human rights standards and our handling of migration policy reduces the US values and the United States status in the world. It also damages America’s reliability and the ability to secure its interests globally, where these interests are threatened by global contestants.
